Android 11 will finally allow you to record videos that are over 4GB in size

    Galaxy S10 camera
As you all probably know, Android phones cannot record videos larger than 4GB. This may change next year with Android 11, however, it should be noted that this change will be welcome.
The limit grows annoyingly over time because smartphones can record 4K videos at 30fps everywhere, meaning large files.
Videos captured in 4K resolution at 60fps occupy a lot of space and don't be surprised if the first smartphones that can record in 8K resolution appear in the market very soon.
With this in mind, the video size captured per minute will increase, which means that you will record large videos in a very short time. As is the case now, the video recording will not stop after the current file being created reaches 4 GB, and the camera app will keep recording the subsequent files.
So, if you keep shooting even at 4K30fps, you might find your Gallery contains a bunch of different files stored for what you think is one continuous recording. Certainly, this is not perfect.
The 4GB limitation was introduced in the year 2014 when the world of mobile devices was much different in terms of hardware capabilities,
and while that limit may have some meaning, it is definitely just a step back in the user experience at the moment. It seems that Google realized this.
