Smart home appliances are great devices, they allow us to remotely control the lights, doors and other home appliances. It can also be automated to automate functions to save energy.
However, the problem with smart home devices is that since they are paired with the internet, this also means that they are vulnerable to hacking.
Unfortunately for Amazon, it appears that they are facing a lawsuit over Ring Security cameras as these cameras appear to be vulnerable to penetration due to Amazon failing to do enough to make sure their devices are safe,
according to an Alabama resident who filed a lawsuit against the company.
According to reports, this person says that his external Ring Camera was hacked as a stranger managed to access the speakers on the camera and chatted with his children through them.
Ring had previously responded to this customer's complaints, stating that there was no evidence that its infrastructure was compromised.
The company also suggested that some users had used login data that might have been hacked in the past, which the plaintiff had not accepted as indicating that this answer was unacceptable because Ring blames customers in the first place.
The lawsuit accuses the company of violating the contract, invading privacy, neglecting, unfair enrichment, and violating California's unfair competition law. The company declined to comment on the lawsuit.
